What to Expect During Surgery?
A gastric bypass is a surgical procedure requiring a general anaesthetic. This means you will not be allowed to eat and drink the night before your procedure. You will also be required to stop any blood thinning or contraindicated medications for about a week before your surgery, depending on how your medical team advises you. You may also need to make changes to your diet at that time.
On the day of the procedure, you will be admitted to a local hospital and answer routine presurgical questions.
